Prince Ayeku backs Akpabio’s concern over Senator Faduyile

By Steve Ovirih.

A Nigerian in The Diaspora and Prince of Igbodigo in Okitipupa Local Govt based in The United States, Kunle Markson Ayeku has applauded The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio for throwing up a query to the political structure over their penchant for sacrificing capacity at the alter of partisan politics, backing the demand of The President of the Senate for Lawmakers like Prof.Dayo Faduyile to be retained in order to engender robust and quality representation at the Senate.

It will be recalled that on Thursday last week while making his remark on the Motion presented by Ondo South Senator, Distinguished Senator Dayo Faduyile titled ‘Urgent need for immediate and comprehensive shoreline protection to save Ayetoro community in Ondo State from sea incursion’, Godswill Akpabio directed a query at Senator Adegbonmire, Ondo Central on why Senator Faduyile was not presented as a candidate in the January 2027 General election. While Akpabio had thanked his State Governor for supporting the return of the three Senators from Akwa Ibom State, he described it as unfortunate that Senator Faduyile who has shown stellar Legislative input so far in the Senate was not considered by the political class for continuity that would consolidate his quality representation at the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

Prince Ayeku, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, in an exclusive media chat from his base in The US noted that the number one lawmaker in Nigeria,Godswill Akpabio earned his respect by asking a question which political stakeholders in Ondo State would shy away from, noting that in other states, a Medical Administrator with long history in participatory politics who rose through the ranks in his profession to become National President Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) and who acquitted himself well on his beat at a time when the nation was at the throes of the deadly COVID 19, will be given all the necessary support to be in the Senate beyond just a year stint so that actionable Legislative bills over health matters will get his quality input but as the Senate President noted, “we play politics with everything in Nigeria.”

Ayeku inferred that from The Red Chamber, a plea, a charge , a query and a demand has been made concerning the need to always consider quality representation first in political decision making, adding that in the United States where he is based and where he has been residing for more than three decades, the best hands are put forward to handle legislative issues. “Senator Faduyile had shone in the Senate like a bright star who is equipped with all the wherewithal to push Legislative agenda that will engender the development of Ondo South. The question arises is one year enough for this capacity to be felt in the Senate?

” Looking at the plenary on Thursday, I watched how Faduyile had galvanized prayers towards ending the major ecological challenges facing Ilaje nation. I felt this is timely and I am confident that with Legislative Compliance which is a major pillar of the Assembly, Ayetoro will get succour courtesy of the prayers in the motion presented by Senator Faduyile.

“Godswill Akpabio is a politician, I am not, however, I am a concerned stakeholder from Ondo South and I belong in several pan- Ondo South socio cultural associations whose activities have impacted our people at home. So, I want to salute the Senate President for bringing up this all important and urgent concern: why can’t we have Faduyile again to represent us in the Senate?”

Agitated Prince Ayeku said the political class in Ondo State has their job well tailored for them over this issue and no situation is so bad that cannot be salvaged.

He noted that as an Ondo South person, he is happy that Senator Faduyile has brought Ayetoro with him to the Senate, stressing that the city that one bristled with a communal life style that was built on collective mutual co existence which had attracted voyagers and foreign investors should not be washed away by ocean incursion.
