SA to Gov. Akeredolu on Health charges Pharmacists to prioritise patients’ care.

The Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Health, Prof. Francis Adedayo Faduyile has called on pharmacists in the state to always prioritise the care of patients while carrying out their responsibilities.
Faduyile while giving this charge in his keynote address at an interactive meeting he held with members of the executive of the Ondo State branch of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria(PSN)in his office implored pharmacists in Ondo State to make the overall improvement of the health status of their patients their major focus.
The Special Adviser affirmed that the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has strong passion for health care delivery as he has demonstrated tremendous support for the state’s health system.
While appreciating the pharmacists for their unflinching support for the present administration in the state, Faduyile called for synergy among all health professionals in the state towards moving the state health sector forward .
He equally stressed the need for the adoption of strategies towards strengthening the state drugs revolving scheme
as a way of restoring the goodwill of the scheme.
The Special Adviser urged the pharmacists to shun industrial actions but to channel their grievances to the appropriate quarters for amicable resolution.
Earlier in his speech, the State Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria(PSN),Ondo State branch, Pharmacist Robinson Akindeko congratulated the Special Adviser on his appointment as Special Adviser to the Governor on Health noting that the appointment is well deserved in view of Prof. Faduyile’s exemplary leadership qualities and antecedents in public service.
Akindeko noted that the interactive meeting would afford pharmacists in Ondo State the opportunity to explore avenues for collaborations with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health towards actualising the goals and objectives of the state government in the state health sector.
While describing the pharmaceutical sub-sector as crucial to the health industry in view of the relevance of pharmaceutical drugs to health care across the primary, secondary and tertiary levels, the PSN Chairman assured that pharmacists in the state will continue to accord administration and control of medicines the required priority.
Akindeko urged the Special Adviser to use his good office to ensure the success of the newly created Ondo State Drugs and Health Commodities Management Agency(ODHCMA), an agency he expressed optimism would turn around the fortunes of the state’s health care delivery system.
While appreciating Ondo PSN for the courtesy call, Prof. Faduyile noted that the Pharmacists will always have his attention as he promised an open door policy with all the health based agencies and associations in Ondo State.
