The Senate has tasked heads of relevant security agencies and the judiciary to prosecute apprehended terrorists and oil thieves in the country.

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, said this at a meeting between the leadership of the senate, the Inspector General of Police, and heads of other security agencies in the country.

Lawan said that the prosecution will give Nigerians the assurance that nobody was above the laws of the land.

Lawan further said, allowing apprehended terrorists or oil thieves to escape justice, will not augur well for country.

He said, “While we fight the insecurity in the country, sometimes we capture bandits alive as well as those stealing crude oil on a daily basis.

Also discussing the issue of oil theft, Lawan said the nation was losing a lot of money and enjoined the judiciary to make allowances for immediate prosecution of oil thieves.
