Senator Faduyile to teachers: Your reward is on earth and in heaven
By Steve Ovirih.
The Senator representing Ondo South, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, OON, has celebrated Nigerian teachers on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, saying their reward is both on earth and in heaven.
Faduyile, in a statement on Sunday to mark the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, described teachers as the bedrock of national development and unsung heroes whose sacrifices sustain the future of the country.
The former Special Adviser on Health to the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, said no nation can rise above the quality of its teachers, noting that teachers deserve more than lip service.
“Today, I join the world to celebrate our teachers – the builders of destinies, the moulders of character and the foundation upon which every profession stands. Your labour is priceless and your reward is both on earth and in heaven,” Faduyile said.
He lauded teachers in Ondo South and across Nigeria for their resilience and dedication despite inadequate infrastructure and challenging working conditions.
According to him, teachers have continued to show patriotism by remaining committed to shaping future leaders even when the system fails to adequately reward them.
The lawmaker assured teachers of his commitment to advocate policies that will improve their welfare, enhance training and retraining, and ensure prompt payment of salaries and allowances.
He added, “As a product of teachers’ sacrifices, I will continue to champion legislation and interventions that place teachers where they rightly belong – at the centre of our development agenda. An empowered teacher will produce an empowered nation.”
Faduyile urged governments at all levels to invest deliberately in the education sector, stressing that the best gift for any teacher is a system that works.
He congratulated all teachers on their day and prayed for more strength and fulfilment in their noble profession.
