[5/22, 4:53 PM] OVIRIH MTN: APC national leader and former Lagos state Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has called on Federal government to cede more power to States of the federation. He made this call on the occasion of the 91st anniversary of Daily Times newspaper in Lagos. Tinubu who was represented at the event by Osun Governor, Ogbeni Aregbesola said the over concentration of powers of the state in the federal government makes it feel like we are running a unitary system of government, rather than advancing in
the course of federalism. The two term Governor of Lagos state said the Autonomy of the third tier of government is very important and it is not good that we just play lip service to this glowing feature of the federal state.

Tinubu called on Federal government to provide all the necessary impetus towards the Devolution of powers to the confederating units to strengthen our nascent democracy, adding that the local government needs financial autonomy so that they can advance growth and development in the grassroots without the administrative bottlenecks the third tier of government is experiencing right now.
