A prominent traditional ruler in Rivers State has promised to support President Bola Tinubu’s campaign for a second term in 2027. The Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri, Asari Dokubo, made the pledge during a visit from the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Dokubo stated his commitment is a direct repayment for past support. He revealed that President Tinubu stood by him during a difficult period in his life, long before he became a traditional leader.

“He stood by me in my most difficult period, and it is now my turn to also stand by him and to also support him,” Dokubo said. He assured the minister he would do everything possible to ensure the President’s success.

Minister Wike is currently on a ‘thank you’ tour of local government areas in Rivers State. He explained the visit aimed to show gratitude for local support and to encourage backing for President Tinubu in the next election.

While acknowledging that traditional rulers typically avoid politics, Wike stressed his visit was also a friendly New Year gesture to Dokubo, whom he called a personal friend.

This public declaration highlights early political maneuvering for the 2027 presidential election, showcasing efforts to secure support from influential regional figures.
