Urhobo Progressive Union thanks Anthony Olatujoye
– Steve Ovirih.
The philanthropic nature of Barrister Anthony Olatujoye , the former Director of Legal services, Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has been extolled by the Urhobo Progressive Union , ( UPU) Okitipupa branch.
In a new year gesture , Prince Barr. Anthony Olatujoye offered scholarship for two children of Late Mr. Christopher Akarewan who was shot dead in Okitipupa by a police man about five years ago. Since the death of Mr.Akarewan, the responsibility of catering to the needs of the children of the deceased fell on the widow, who manages to survive on mere petty trading .
Barr. Olatujoye who heard of the challenge of the widow through a newspaper report was moved by pity and offered to reach out to the widow through his contacts in Okitipupa. On the bases of the Barrister’s philanthropy, the younger Akarewans have returned to school to commence academic activities which were almost truncated as a result of the unfortunate demise of their father.
In their appreciation, Urhobo Progressive Union , through their Secretary, Eng. Godwin Onobredefe prayed that God will continue to enrich Prince Olatujoye for extending such an unusual kind gesture to the household of the Akarewans, stressing that the financial assistance came like a bolt out of the blues and it met the family at their exact point of need. “Urhobo Progressive Union, Okitipupa , Ondo state wishes to appreciate Prince Barr. Anthony Olatujoye for granting scholarship offer for the children of one of our members whose life was cut short in the prime of his life by a trigger happy police man here in Okitipupa.
” To say the least, we are short of words and we can only pray that God of heaven and earth will continue to appreciate you for us . Sir, God will bless you richly and will always meet you at the point of your need,” the UPU statement reads .
In his reaction Barr. Olatujoye said the union and the family should thank God and not him because it is God alone whom we all should appreciate as He is the author of all kind gesture. He charged the Union to continue to encourage the children of the deceased to be serious in their studies.
