What Tinubu should do, by Shagari

Tamarauemi Ebimini

President-elect Bola Tinubu has what it takes to transform the country, former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtar Shagari, said yesterday.

Shagari, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urged Tinubu to engage the right team to tackle challenges facing the country.

Shagari, who was also Minister of Water Resources in the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said Tinubu laid the foundation for the success of Lagos State stories.

Speaking on a television programme, Shagari urged Nigerians to wish the President-elect well and pray for him to do what is right.

He said: “Tinubu should have a government of national unity. No matter how brilliant a person is, he can only succeed if he has the right team. And the right team does not necessarily have to be from his party alone.

Shagari however urged Tinubu to be wary of sycophants when he assumes office.
