A police manhunt deep inside a forest in Ondo State has led to the capture of four suspected kidnappers. The tactical operation was launched not just to find criminals, but to find answers in the killing of a fellow officer, Superintendent James Ogunleye.

The suspects were tracked down and arrested in the Amurin Forest, located along the Owo-Ifon axis. Police teams were conducting a targeted mission to find those responsible for the officer’s death.

A key focus of the intense search was to find Officer Ogunleye’s missing service rifle. During the forest raid, the police team did not find the rifle, but they recovered one single-barrel gun that was loaded with a live cartridge from the suspects.

The four arrested men are now in police custody. The state’s Commissioner of Police has ordered investigators to widen their probe to find any other members of the criminal gang.

The ultimate goal remains to track down and recover the slain officer’s service weapon. This operation highlights the continued efforts by security forces to dismantle kidnap networks and bring justice for fallen comrades.
