President Bola Tinubu has established a high-powered committee aimed at resolving internal conflicts within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The move is part of a major push to unite the party as it looks toward the next general election.
The committee, inaugurated in Lagos on Wednesday, includes several state governors, federal ministers, and senior party figures. Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni will lead the group, with former party legal adviser Muiz Banire serving as secretary.
In his remarks, Governor Buni pledged the committee would work diligently to create an inclusive strategy. He promised to engage widely with party members to address grievances and build a stronger, more cohesive APC.
The formation of this group follows President Tinubu’s recent calls for unity during a party meeting. He had urged leaders to be tolerant and accommodating to ensure the party’s resilience.
Governor Buni warned members against letting personal interests interfere with the committee’s goal. He stated the focus would be on proactive solutions to manage disputes before they escalate.
This strategic committee is seen as a direct effort to stabilize the ruling party, manage internal disputes, and consolidate its position well ahead of the 2027 electoral contest.
