9 The social cultural pan Yoruba organisation , Afenifere has sent a strong worded appeal to the Governor of Ondo state, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, (SAN) to urgently ensure that the tide of insecurity is stemmed out of the sunshine state as there had been pockets of cases insecurity within the confines of the state lately.
This subtle counsel was given by a chieftain of the Pan Yoruba group, Chief Sehinde Arogbofo, who is equally a renowned author at a meeting in Pa Reuben Fashoranti’s house in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Chief Arogbofa, the secretary of the organisation noted that there was the need for Ondo state government to tighten its security particularly across the communities where Ondo state share boundaries with other neighbouring states, adding that if the state’s boundary are porous it will challenge the level of the state’s security consciousness, in this hard time of Boko Haram and herdsmen invasion.
Arogbofa called on Governor Akeredolu to take a que from his Ekiti state counterpart, Governor Ayo Fayoshe who has developed a blueprint on how to enhance peaceful co existence between Ekiti farmers and the herdsmen in the state. The pan Yoruba cultural organisation made it clear that the communal peace and mutual co existence of Yorubas’ of Ondo state with other tribes in the state can be threatened by the incessant attacks of herdsmen in Ondo villages, appealing to the Governor to do everything humanly possible to discourage farmers and herdsmen clashes in Ondo state.
It will be recalled that the industrial farm of Chief Olu Falaye, an Akure high chief and ex secretary to the FederalGovt , at Ilu Abo in the outskirts of Akure had been touched on several occasions by acclaimed herdsmen and the chief had been kidnapped once by an alleged set of herdsmen.
