A youth group in Ondo State is urging the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress to act swiftly, warning that failure to manage the current internal dispute could set a damaging precedent for future party crises.
The Oodua Progressive Youth League raised the alarm on Wednesday, following the conduct of the party’s state congress despite a restraining order issued by the Federal High Court sitting in Akure, according to the group.
In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Wale Abdulwaheed, the youth body described the episode as a warning sign, saying the decision to proceed with the congress has created avoidable tension and uncertainty among party members.
The group cautioned that ignoring judicial processes could encourage aggrieved stakeholders to seek redress in court or explore alternative political structures, developments it said often lead to prolonged disputes and weaken internal cohesion.
From a preventive standpoint, OPYL argued that strict adherence to court orders is essential for maintaining discipline within a ruling party, stressing that early respect for legal boundaries helps avert deeper factional splits and reputational damage.
The youth organisation further warned that unresolved disagreements at this stage could undermine the party’s operational effectiveness and electoral readiness in Ondo State, especially if mistrust continues to grow among key actors.
