By Steve Ovirih.

The move by Ondo South Senator, Distinguished Senator Prof.Dayo Faduyile, OON to get relief materials for the victims of flood challenge across the District is beginning to yield results as reports emanating from the National Emergency Management Authority,NEMA Abuja, is to the effect that personnel of the agency have been mobilized for inspection and to get the necessary data of the residents across Ondo South who were affected by the sad ‘act of nature.’

According to the Team Lead of NEMA on visit to Ondo South, the six local government council areas were visited and names are being compiled so that when reliefs are packaged, it will reach out to all the affected residents of Ondo South.

Speaking with Senator Dayo Faduyile on the development at his National Assembly Office Complex on Thursday morning,he noted that he has sought immediate humanitarian reliefs from NEMA, noting that when he visited the district what he saw was that the severe flooding had submerged homes, farmlands, business premises and major roads including the Lagos/Ore/ Benin Express way. “Over 80 000 persons have been displaced or otherwise affected across Ondo South,” Prof. Faduyile added.

He asked that for the process of compilation of the flood victims, their area and extent of damage to be appropriately factored, a register should be opened for them at each Local Govt Secretariat while appealing to the Council Chairmen across the district to act as liaison officials between the NEMA Personnel and the flood victims to ensure proper, thorough and genuine documentation of those who are to benefit from the relief materials.
