Senator Faduyile takes Aiyetoro ocean incursion to Senate

By Steve Ovirih.

The Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Prof.Dayo Faduyile OON has drawn the attention of stakeholders to the challenge of the people of Aiyetoro in Ilaje Local Government with a charge for all the concerned stakeholders to see the need for a cohesive effort towards reclaiming Ayetoro from being submerged by the ocean.

Senator Faduyile who was a guest on NTA International’s prime time programme, ‘Political Update’ on Friday, 9th October,2026, noted that Aiyetoro,Ilaje is going under water as ocean surge which has violently poached on the community has become more daring with a submerging persistence which has claimed a reasonable stretch of the community, displacing the locals of Aiyetoro from their ancestral home.

“My constituents at Aiyetoro in Ilaje Local Government helplessly wash as their land is submerged by surge from the Atlantic Ocean. It has been a persistent water incursion which has washed away a good substance of Aiyetoro land over the years. We cannot continue to look on while the ocean washes away our land. I will present this challenge through a motion at plenary to call Government attention and that of all necessary agencies and stakeholders; a formidable collaboration and policy will put end to this challenge and Legislative backing will be necessary to effect this all important solution to Aiyetoro water incursion,” Sen.Faduyile maintained.

He assured that he will move a motion on the ocean surge on the people of Aiyetoro with a bid to draw the attention of the Federal government and all concerned agencies to finding succour and ending the threat of the ocean in Aiyetoro community.

The Ondo South Senator noted that his district is naturally blessed with natural resources, adding that the second largest world deposit of Bitumen is located beneath the soil of Ondo South. He said it is good to know that the Bill on Bitumen is awaiting Presidential assent and this means a lot for the district.

While noting that Ondo South also has Silica deposit which can be used in the production of phone hardwares, he noted that effort will be geared towards proposing bills that will actualise government consent for the exploration of the natural resources which Ondo South is blessed with.

From his Professional constituency as a Medical Doctor and based on his membership on the Committee on Health(secondary and Tertiary), the Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine noted that he is going to be proposing a motion on mandatory cervical cancer training at plenary, noting that cancer challenge, its advocacy, control and awareness for both prevention and treatment has become a matter that should have Legislative backing.

Senator Faduyile once again used the ‘Guest Platform’ to commiserate with the Chief of the Air Staff,Air Chief Sunday Aneke ovyer the aircraft crash at Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government in which a good number of Nigerian Air Force Personnel paid the supreme price in the course of duty. He prayed God to grant the Force, their respective families and Nigeria the courage to bear their untimely end, while also praying God to end all of such disasters in the nation.
