Two Nigerian men, Ezechukwu Ohaka and Tayo Muyiwa Olukoya, have been declared wanted by United States federal agencies over separate allegations involving Medicare fraud and drug distribution offences.
The US Department of Homeland Security says Ohaka is accused of participating in a scheme that submitted more than 3.1 million dollars in fraudulent Medicare claims. According to the department, the alleged operation generated more than one million dollars in illegal proceeds.
Investigators allege that Ohaka operated through a Houston-based company, Luant & Odera Incorporated, alongside other suspected participants. The company was allegedly used to bill Medicare for power wheelchairs, motorised scooters and related accessories that were either not medically necessary or were not supplied.
The Department of Homeland Security further alleges that the scheme targeted hurricane victims and involved kickbacks to recruit beneficiaries. These claims form part of the allegations against Ohaka, and the information provided does not establish a conviction.
In a separate case, the US Drug Enforcement Administration has declared 57-year-old Olukoya, also known as Uncle, wanted over alleged drug-related offences. The agency announced the development through its official social media account, identifying him as a suspect in a case involving controlled substances.
According to the DEA, Olukoya is wanted over an alleged conspiracy to possess controlled substances with the intention of distributing them, as well as to distribute the substances. The agency’s announcement did not provide further details about the alleged conduct or the current status of the case.
The two cases involve separate investigations by US federal agencies and should not be treated as connected. Further details about the legal proceedings, the whereabouts of the men and any responses from them were not included in the announcements cited.
