36TH ODIGBO DAY: NEJO FELICITATES ORUNJA, ODIGBO PEOPLE, SEEKS SUPPORT FOR 2027 SENATORIAL BID
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Ondo South Senatorial District, Hon. Myson Adeyemi Nejo, has congratulated the Orunja of Odigbo Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Rufus Olugboyega Akinrinmade, Adebusoye I, alongside traditional chiefs and the people of the kingdom, on the occasion of the 36th Odigbo Day Carnival.
The annual celebration is scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the Odigbo Township Stadium, Ondo State, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In a goodwill message ahead of the celebration, Nejo described Odigbo Day as a significant platform for promoting unity, cultural heritage, peace and development.
He commended Oba Akinrinmade for his leadership and commitment to sustaining peace and progress in the kingdom. He also applauded indigenes of Odigbo, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, for their contributions to the development of their ancestral home.
According to him, the annual carnival represents more than a cultural celebration, noting that it reflects the resilience, shared identity and rich traditions of the Odigbo people.
Nejo, who is seeking election to the Senate in 2027, also used the occasion to solicit the support of residents of Odigbo and the entire Ondo South Senatorial District.
He pledged to prioritise quality education, functional primary healthcare services and inclusive empowerment programmes for youths, women and elderly citizens if elected.
The NDC candidate further assured constituents of his commitment to accessible and people-oriented representation, promising to remain available to address their concerns and champion their interests.
“By the grace of God, we will all witness next year’s Odigbo Day, and we will celebrate it even better when I am elected as Senator representing Ondo South,” he said.
Nejo prayed for the continued peaceful reign of the Orunja, sustained peace and development in Odigbo Kingdom, and a successful celebration.
