– Steve Ovirih.

Facts that the youthful former Chairman of Ilaje Local Government Council , Hon Banji Okunomo is throwing his hat in the ring and running for the Governorship election in Ondo state on the platform of People’s Democratic party, emerged this afternoon as the Governorship candidate who had functioned excellently well as Ondo state PDP spokesperson indicated in a telephone chat with thepolity.net that he has collected his Expression of Interest form from the party Secretariat in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

The Expression of Interest form costs a whooping four million naira. For those who think Banji Okunomo was playing on words with his Governorship ambition, he has just proved them wrong with this giant stride towards realising his highest Political ambition so far in his more than a decade foray into active party politicsH

HonBanji Okunomo while speaking with thepolity.net said he is first and foremost grateful to God for the gift of life and the opportunity he had had in the time past to serve the people on the platform of his great party, People’s Democratic party (PDP). He said he has gone round consulting among the rank and file of his party across Ondo state and he has taken his time to reach out to all the major stakeholders in Ondo state, noting that he is impressed by the massive support he has garnered so far. When asked what the next step was, Okunomo , a former students’ union leader said the next step is to move to the national party Secretariat ,Wadata Plaza , Abuja to obtain the nomination form.

Banji Okunomo appealed to the delegates of his party to break away from the tradition of fielding senior citizens who should act as advisers , adding that it was high time we stopped making our senior citizens retire to the state house as the state’s Chief Executive. He said as a young, forthright party man he has all it takes to take the sunshine state to the zenith of economic and social Political development.
