SA on Health to Gov. Akeredolu counsels health unions on industrial harmony.

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Health, Prof. Francis Faduyile has advised unions in the state health sector to relate with one another for inter professional harmony.

Prof .Faduyile gave this indication while conferring with members of the executive of the Ondo State branch of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) in his office.

He told them that the office of the Special Adviser on Health to Ondo State Governor is concerned about the harmony and unity among Ondo State health unions, stressing that labour issues among the health professionals can always be resolved amicably.

He challenged the health professionals to change their views and perspective on how they go about presenting their labour inclined agitations. “In the last ten to fifteen years, all of us have been fighting for crumbs that cannot move us forward in the medical sector. Let us change our views,” Faduyile advised .

He noted that the support of the health unions are sought so that Ondo State will be pivot study and good example on professional harmony.

He stressed that when he was the President of the Nigeria Medical Association ( NMA), he ensured inter-professional harmony in the sector, adding that leading professional unions is not about confrontation or rousing uproars and agitations.

According to him, he is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a united and cordial set of people in the health sector.

He added that although there would be misunderstanding, the most important thing was to find ways to discuss and resolve them amicably on the round table.

The SA urged the AMLSN not to feel marginalised but have a sense of belonging.

” We will listen to you. This office is open . Come to us and we will discuss and resolve issues. We will hear you,” he said.

Faduyile enjoined the laboratory scientists’ union to harp on standardisation, saying every life is important to the government.

He also asked the laboratory scientists to make patients the centre of their service.

In her words, the Chairman of AMLSN, Comrade (MLS) Olayemi Ayesoro said that the association was refreshed and felt a sense of belonging by the words of the Special Adviser.

Ayesoro assured the government of the association’s support in all its programmes and put on mechanisms to ensure quality service delivery among members of the association.

Prof. Faduyile assured that as long as the health unions don’t hold back from reaching out with their views and suggestions, his office will continue to maintain an open door policy with all the Ondo State Health Professionals .
