63rd Independence Anniversary : Dayo Faduyile charges Nigerians to keep faith with Country.
– Steve Ovirih.
Prof. Francis Adedayo Faduyile, OON, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the 63rd Independence anniversary of the nation, noting that the best of Nigeria is in the offing.
The Special Adviser on Health, Ondo State , in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Akure , the Ondo State Capital , noted that Nigeria has a chequered history of victory over all manners of political and economic challenges and travails which had been summounted based on unity of purpose that had been hinged on the time tested credo of unity in diversity.
The former National President of the prestigeous Nigeria Medical Association , NMA , said Nigerians should continue to keep faith with the nation as her best is evolving under the astute Presidency of Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu, who has promised Renewed Hope based on a conviction and policies that will in no time yield economic growth that the citizenry will be proud of.
Tracing the political development of Nigeria, Prof. Faduyile stated that Nigeria in 1993 was faced with a defining and decisive moment under a military junta that threw the spanners on the path of the democratic growth of the nation which threw the entire political space into a hot bed scenario and political tension that would have put the nation asunder as one military junta as election annuller had yielded to another which had brought on its heel a palpable rein of terror that tilted the social space towards the precipice, yet a nation’s collective resolve had consolidated on the one nation mantra and heralded in the post 1999 days an enduring Democratic template which we all had keyed into regardless of the teething challenges , the benefit of which we are all alive to witness today as the nation celebrates her 63rd independence anniversary.
He said the celebration is a soul searching one as it once again demands that both the leaders and the led should collaborate on ensuring that the labour of love and sweat of heroes past and the martys of Nigeria’s Indepence are not shed in vain.
Prof. Faduyile stressed that Nigerians in their bid to desire better governance should indulge in constructive criticism and not destructive spread of opinions that neither see a brighter future nor appreciate the untiring efforst of key stakeholders of government , who are busy and painstakingly juggling policies and ideas that will on the long run improve the welfare of the masses.
” October is a significant month in Nigeria. It is a month the nation arrives on the threshold of her 63rd Independence Anniversary and while this calls for celebration, it equally calls for sober reflection as it is obvious we are not where we desire to be, yet , we are not where we used to be in terms of socio economic growth.
” It is worthy of note that as a nation , for the upwards of two decades and more, we have continued to enjoy seamless transition from one Democracy to another and without bias to the ‘ naysayers’ opinion this historical political success calls for celebration.
” Arguably, it is not yet uhuru, we cannot however agree with fifth columnists that in our journey to political stardom and self sufficiency as a nation state , we have not made indices of enviable success.
” All that is needed now is for us as a nation to keep faith with Nigeria, to keep faith with The President , who has no doubt shown through his economic blueprint that he means well for Nigeria.
” I understand the change will not come overnight, but it will come , hence the need for us to faithfully key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Bola Tinubu led Federal Government as we do not have any other country than Nigeria to call ours, ” Prof. Faduyile charged.
While congratulating the good people of Ondo State for witnessing the new month of October, Prof. Faduyile advised the indigines and residents of the state to continue to cooperate with the Government of Arakunrin Odunayo Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, stressing that the Ondo State Governor is committed to the social contract between it and the massess of the Sunshine State.
