For thousands of Nigerian families living in Britain, a key academic link to their homeland has finally arrived. The National Examinations Council (NECO) has opened its very first test center in the United Kingdom.

This new center means that Nigerian secondary school students in the UK no longer have to travel back to Nigeria to sit for this important exam. They can now take the test in London, making it easier and cheaper for families to meet educational requirements.

The move responds to the growing need of the large Nigerian community abroad. Parents want their children to have the same educational qualifications as their peers back home, keeping their options for university in both Nigeria and the UK open.

“This is about identity and opportunity,” said a community leader. “Our children can now proudly hold the same certificate as their cousins in Lagos or Abuja, without the stress of long-distance travel.”

The new exam center represents more than just a test location. It is a significant step in supporting the cultural and academic ties of the Nigerian diaspora, ensuring that distance does not become a barrier to education.

This expansion marks a historic moment for NECO, solidifying its role not just within Nigeria, but as a vital institution for Nigerians across the globe.
