A major crisis is in the offing at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba over a petition written by the Chairman of Academic staff Union of University, Dr. Sola Fayose against the University’s Vice
Chancellor, Prof. ‘Kele Ajibefun to the Visitor to the University, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

The petition alleged the Vice Chancellor of sundry financial impropriety as well as the procurement of obsolete science equipment. On the strength of the petition, Dr. Sola Fayose is demanding the removal of the vice Chancellor and the setting up of a visitation panel. The petitioner insinuated that there is the need for a thorough investigation of the University’s book as financial misconduct shall be detected.

However members of the University’s AASU have vehemently kicked against the petition, stressing that it was written in bad faith as there was no congressional input or resolution on the matter.
Professor C. A Daramola, Dean Post Graduate school, Prof. V. Olumekun, former Dean, Faculty of Science and ‘of Director Center for Research and development, Dr. posi Omosuyi, Dr. olusola and Dr. Gbore have all expressed their misgivings over the petition. Prof. olumekun noted that the petition of Dr. fayose was simply an attempt to wrap a personal vendetta mission of a member of Asuu leadership in the garb of unionism. He said at no time did the University’s Academic staff Union had a resolution to probe the Vice Chancellor as most of the issues raised in the petition had already been sorted out. Other academics in the University while kicking against the petion noted that the union members were not privy to the petition, hence the petitioner had acted unilaterally without carrying his Union members along.
