A faction of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has praised President Bola Tinubu for naming Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the party’s leader in the state. The group, led by Emeka Beke, said this decision ends false claims about who leads the APC locally.
In a statement on Friday, the faction stated Tinubu’s action supports the party’s rules that governors should lead in their states. They said this is vital for unity and effective organization within the party.
The faction strongly criticized the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, for his recent comments on issues involving Governor Fubara. They described Morka’s remarks as personal views that go against party loyalty and discipline.
They called for Morka to leave his position, accusing him of failing to protect the party’s goals. The Rivers group also urged the party’s national leadership to respect court rulings on the state chapter’s leadership.
Furthermore, the faction requested that the APC quickly organize congresses at all levels in Rivers State to settle ongoing disputes and unite members.
Finally, they appealed to Governor Fubara, as the recognized party leader, to call a meeting of all stakeholders to plan a clear future path for the APC in Rivers State.
