Christians have been admonished to always spare time for critical self evaluation and to always bear in mind that our journey on earth prepares us for the hereafter. This piece of advice was handed out on Wednesday, 23rd December by Ven. Ogunfeyimi at the funeral service of Late Pa. Nathaniel Ilesanmi Omosehin which held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Iju Odo in Okitipupa Local Government Area, Ondo South Senatorial district.
Vicar and Archdeacon of Iju Odo Archdeaconry, Ven. Ogunfeyimi congratulated the children of Baba Omosehin who in his life time clocked the ripe old age of 100 years before he went to join the saint Triumphant.
Ven. Ogunfeyimi noted that burial service bids farewell to the dead but to the living, it offers a golden opportunity for everyone to always take time to resort to critical self evaluation and examination so that the final home call doesn’t take us unawares.
The burial programme for Pa. Omosehin had begun on Tuesday with the launching of a foundation to help the less privileged by Bamidele Omehinsehin, the billionaire business magnate and son of the deceased. Also, in the fond memories of his darling father, Bamidele Omosehin organized a football tournament which grand finale held on Tuesday at the main bowl of Manuwa Memorial College Iju Odo where he donated a Trophy and huge cash award to the winner of the novelty tournament, Keita Football Club Okitipupa, which beat its rival , Young Boys Football Club Ilutitun 4-3 in a penalty shoot out.
Bamidele Omosehin who is poised to keep alive the memory of his father had invited his business colleagues and well meaning Nigerians to launch the Bamidele Omosehin Foundation, which inauguration was chaired by Hon. Shina Peller Member House of Representatives, Abuja.
Following on the heels of the church service, the right of committal was performed for the remains of Late Pa. Omosehin at his Modupe Street residence , Iju Odo.
There was a thanksgiving in the course of the funeral service for Late Pa. Omosehin and the church equally prayed for the children of the deceased centenarian.
A grand reception and entertainment of guests followed at the field of Manuwa Memorial College, Iju Odo.
Popular Lagos Fuji artiste , David Ayinde serenaded the reception with his Kwam 1 De Ultimate blend of fanciful Fuji lyrics.
Bamidele Omosehin who spoke with thepolity.net on the fringe of the high octane party said he thanked God for the life and time of his father, Pa Ilesanmi Omosehin whom he described as a caring and compassionate father to all his children. Dele Omosehin noted that he would sorely miss his father whose words of advice and golden prayer nuggets were second to none. On the inauguration of Bamidele Omosehin Foundation, the well connected business mogul said he is establishing the foundation to keep his father’s memory alive and to help the less privileged in the society. He said as a kid growing up in Ikale Land, he understood the challenge of the struggling children of average parents and the orphans who have the brains but lack financial support to make a reality their dream of going to school .
Among the eminent persons and guests of Bamidele Omosehin who came to grace his father’s burial were Hon. Shina Peller (MHR), the Oniju of Iju Odo, Oba Festus Olumoyegun, Fatia Balogun, diva and Nollywood screen goddess, Sikirat Sindodo, Remi Surutu, both famous thespians and household names in the Nigerian Movie industry, Mr. White, London based business tycoon and a host of others.
