Betty Akeredolu marks world widows day in Akure .

The wife of the Ondo state Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has showered palliatives on widows in Akure as the world marks the year 2020 widows day.
The world widows day is marked every 23rd of June the world over, drawing global attention to the plight of widows and how their challenges can be assuaged.
Speaking at the gathering of the widows, where a massive distribution of palliatives were administered on the widows, the wife of the Ondo state Governor , Mrs. Akeredolu said the plight of the widows in the society should be our collective concern, calling on different societies that discriminate against the widows to stop the primitive and very backward attitude.
She said her office will factor the widows into her programme as she ordered the widows in attendance to get their names and other important information written down for further processes. Mrs. Akeredolu assured the widows that they should not despair as God always know how to take care of those who are in challenging condition in life. She noted that it was high time our society stood up for the widows and civil society groups should speak up against socio economic discrimination against the widows, particularly from their husbands family.
Among the items distributed were bags of rice and beans, tubers of yams, provisions and financial assistance.
