Suspected Boko Haram terrorists in gun trucks and motorcycles have killed 12 persons in two communities of Chibok Local Council of Borno State.

The residents were killed on Monday about 5.00p,m., with the torching of many houses and shops in Gatamarwa and Tsiha communities on the fringes of Sambisa Forest.

Confirming the incident, yesterday, in Maiduguri, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Yusuf, disclosed: “The insurgents were disguised in military uniform, before attacking the two vulnerable communities located on the fringes of forest.

“The distress call received indicated that Some Boko Haram terrorists have killed 11 residents,” adding that they abducted a woman and two others and fled into the forest in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to the police boss, the attacked communities are near a farming and herding community of Shikarkir in Chibok.

MorfugaThakwa, who survived the terrorists’ multiple attacks, lamented the torching of several houses and shops in the communities.

“We have been displaced for the second time when they attacked us in 2021. Even when we rebuild the torched communities, they may attack us again,” he said, adding that the harvested crops in granaries and livestock were carted away before the terrorists torched many houses and shops.

The fresh attacks in Chibok came barely two weeks after the terrorists attacked Chibok town and killed two people, looted houses, and shops, before setting them ablaze.

SIMILARLY, three 330KVA electricity towers of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) brought down on Christmas Eve, plunging Yobe and Borno residents into darkness.

The affected towers are sited along Maiduguri-Auno and Damaturu-Gujba roads in the two states.

A community leader, Bitrus Musa, told The Guardian that the terrorists were armed with AK-47 rifles, gun trucks in destroying the houses and shops.

On residents that were killed, he said: “The insurgents first opened fire on some people, who were returning from mourning in Gatamarwa, before attacking another community, Tsiha, near Shikarkir. They killed three people and abducted a lady.”
