Buni raises monthly gratuity payment to N200m

Tamarauemi Ebimini

Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has approved an upward review of monthly standing payment of gratuities from N100 million to N200 million.

This is contained in a statement issued by the state Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Mohammed Abacha, in Damaturu on Thursday.

Abacha said that the governor approved the review of gratuity payment in order to capture more beneficiaries every month.

“The review will now provide room for a larger coverage of retired public officers and the next of kin of deceased workers to receive their retirement benefits.

“This demonstrates the commitment of the state government to ensure that retirees are paid their benefits in good time after retirement.

“The next of kin of the deceased civil servants will also be paid the entitlements of their deceased relations to support the beneficiaries,” Abacha said.
