Fulani herdsmen pay Igangan a midnight visit, kill scores of innocent indigenes.

– Steve Ovirih.

In the wee hours of Sunday, the 6th June, 2021, when normal human beings were resting in their homes after a busy weekend, the agrarian Igangan Community had nocturnal visitors, Fulani herdsmen.

Detailed eye witness account has it that the marauders presence was felt around 1. AM on Sunday, stressing that they came in like ghosts unsuspected until they had started their killing spree. While attempts were made to repel them, the fact that the people of Igangan in Ibarapa area of Oyo state were overwhelmed because they were caught unawares did not weigh in as an advantage for them.

By the time their evil jousts were over , more than twenty indigenes of Igangan were dead in cold blood from the murderous attackers.

In his reaction to the renewed hostility between the indigenes of Igangan and the cattle herders , who were once settlers in the town until the herders bared their terrorist fangs, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state expressed his displeasure over the unfortunate killings at Igangan by the allegedly unknown gunmen. Makinde said report of the early Sunday morning attacks on Igangan has reached him and he has instructed the state security apparatus to ensure proper investigation into the cause of the violence, adding that he has ordered security to be beefed up at Igangan and its environ.

However, All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo state has said cases of serial attacks on Igangan has confirmed Gov. Makinde’s failure to ensure a proactive security network for the people of the state, describing his Sunday morning reaction to the Igangan invasion as an afterthought.

The people of Ibarapa have however called on the South West Security Network Corp also known as ” Amotekun” to brace up and come to the rescue of the affected Ibarapa Community as they say the incessant Fulani invasion is a total affront on the entire Yoruba race.
