Gen. Bajowa charges security personnel to allow for inter agency synergy , unparalleled productivity.

The Jagunmolu of Ikaleland and Ojagbulegun from the source, Gen. Olu Bajowa, OFR, has called on Nigerian security personnel to work towards enhancing unparalleled productivity in the course of discharging their duty.

Gen Bajowa made this call at the the 15th international security conference held in Lagos, where he served as the Chairman of the event involving top brass security experts.

In his words, Gen Bajowa said, ” It is my pleasure to be part of the opening session of this critical dialogue on the National Security Environment and the need for security personnel to enhance productivity. It is with great delight and joy that I welcome you all, to this 15th Annual Security Conference. ”

The foremost Ikale nay , Nigerian leader of thought noted that he felt obliged to remind Nigerians of her place as member of the security profession, and the critical role she must play in the development of the Nation.

The retired Army officer said threats of terrorism, crime, insurgency, extreme nationalism, and environmental damage, continue to evolve, and troubling gaps in national security and homeland security, present new and complex challenges, noting that the Nigeria State faces intractable security challenges across the country.

Thus, there is the need for a modern security and Intelligence Architecture to combat the security challenges.

Bajowa added that In Nigeria, there are numerous Intelligence Departments in the various security services and the information generally resides with these Intelligence Agencies, without being shared.

He noted that There is no synergy amongst the Security Agencies, which require processed information and operational intelligence, to effectively combat insurgency and other related social threats, noting that this has become inimical to national security objectives and purposes.

The retired Army Chief said , there is a need for an “Intelligence Command and Control Centre” where all information is fed for use by all the security agencies, noting that this is required to bring the nation back on the path of recovery, reformation, and repositioning of the body of security professionals.

He said Nigeria is privileged to have all it takes to address security challenges, including food security, stressing that Nigeria has obligations to the nation to mentor the younger members of the security profession.

Gen. Bajowa reiterated that all forms of unprofessional and unethical practices that may cast the security professionals in bad light and undermine ” our place ” in the society must be shunned.

While declaring the conference opened, Gen Bajowa reminded the security professionals to bear in mind the fact that their primary responsibility is centered on security, defence and protection of the nation, as envisaged in the constitution, which makes the primary role of government to be security of person and property.
