Indiscipline: Ekiti varsity sacks 13 staff

Ekiti State University, EKSU, has terminated the appointment of nine of its staff for “indiscipline and impunity”.

The institution has also sacked 3 staff for abandonment of their duty post while one person was shown the way out for sexual misconduct.

Also 21 persons were warned for various offences and 3 were barred from holding positions of responsibility for three years in the university.

Prof. Joseph B. Ayodele, gave the figure at the 29th Vice Chancellor’s Convocation Press Conference at the Senate Chamber, Glass House in Ado-Ekiti, with 200 students expected to graduate with first class.

Ayodele also said that 16 junior non- teaching staff were promoted, 209 senior non-teaching staff, 6 academic to professorial rank, 5 to Readers while 40 lecturers 11 and senior lecturers were all promoted.

“This year’s convocation is unique, being the first convocation ceremony I will be attending as a substantive vice chancellor.  A total number of 16,446 graduates of the University for 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions, will be conferred with diplomas, bachelor degrees and higher degrees”

“Prof. Ayodele added that 5,406, will graduate with second class upper division, 9,076 with lower division, 1,295 and 04 with a pass.

“For higher degrees, 162 with PhD degrees, 242 with master’s degrees and 61 for postgraduate diploma”.

Speaking further, the university don pointed out that the university will confer honorary doctorate degrees on three eminent personalities in Nigeria, they include the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, Dr. Zach Adedeji, the Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service and Dr. Mansur Muhtar, the Chairman, Board of the Bank of Industry.
