Let’s revert to the 1963 Constitution ; it’s the best document for the nation – Akeredolu.

– Steve Ovirih.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, former NBA President and Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu has thrown his weight behind the Republican Constitution of 1963, describing it as the best and the most viable document for Nigeria. Governor Akeredolu , who has been championing the ban on open grazing across the Southwest, stressed that Nigeria is a diverse entity that is very heterogeneous, thus a return to the 1963 Constitution which recognised the autonomous nature of the component units making up the federation will take care of all the prevailing agitations in the country.

He gave this indication at the opening of the Public hearing on Constitution Review organized by the Senate Committee on the review of the Constitution which held at the International Event Center , The Dome, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

” Beside the 1963 Constitution, every other Constitution review done in the country was drafted and foisted on the country by the military regime that held sway in Nigeria.

” The 1963 Constitution allowed for the organic development of the Laws , both its spirit and letter by using local experiences as that singular document emphasized the Republican status of the country better than the subsequent ones, ” noted Governor Akeredolu.
