Lucky Ayedatiwa is Akeredolu’s running mate

– Steve Ovirih.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has nominated Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa as his Deputy Governor candidate ahead of the October 10th Governorship election in Ondo State.

According to a statement made available to the press, Mr Ayedatiwa from Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, who was the immediate past representative of Ondo State on the board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), was chosen to run alongside Governor Akeredolu in a joint ticket under which Ayedatiwa will serve as Deputy Governor.

It will be recalled that the current Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic party barely a month ago to contest for the Governorship ticket of the party , which was eventually handed over to Mr. Eyitayo Jegede ( SAN), who polled 888 votes at the PDP primary election.

In a related development, Governor Akeredolu has expressed the confidence of his party, APC to beat Eyitayo Jegede arms down in the October guber poll. While addressing the press after his session with the APC election appeal committee in the party’s national Secretariat , Abuja, Gov. Akeredolu said beating Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) in Governorship poll is not a new thing to him, adding that not even the defection of his Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi can affect his electoral fortune, adding that Deputy Governor Ajayi is learning the ropes in the political arena, hence his political miscalculation that had prodded him into assuming that he was the PDP candidate to beat which eventually did not happen as he had expected.

Governor Akeredolu however noted that he will stop at nothing to ensure that the Ondo State APC go into the October poll as one United, cohesive and indivisible structure.
