A youth leader and one time House of Assembly hopeful from Okitipupa constituency 2, Hon. Yemi Fafoluyi has knocked the Federal Government for giving an executive order on a total lockdown of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun without providing adequate palliatives for the citizenry.

Fafoluyi in a telephone chat with the polity.net said most states of the federation have followed suit by ordering the lockdown of their state entry and exit boundaries.
He said while everybody is careful not to contract the strange coronavirus disease, another factor government has failed to consider in their hurried approach to containing the virus was that when people are ordered to sit at home, majority of who are everyday hustlers, hunger can as well kill them at home.

The Erinje born politician and social crusader said the plight of the artisans and roadside sellers of fast moving consumer goods are worsened in this period of stay at home.

While expressing surprise at the mechanism relied on by Federal Government to share money among acclaimed “poor people ” of Nigeria, Yemi Fafoluyi implied that it smacks of insincerity to Nigerians who live from hand to mouth that billions were shared without recourse to the use of the Bank Verification Number (BVN). He said if federal government doesn’t want people to die of hunger at home while staying safe from coronavirus, the BVN should be used to distribute money no matter how meagre as a palliative in this cash crunched season of stay at home.
