May Day: Olabode Omoyele congratulates Nigerian workers

Leading Real Estate Developer and Politician, Mr. Olabode Omoyele has reached out to salute the resilience of Nigerian workers as the World celebrates Workers Day.

Across the globe, May 1st is set aside to celebrate Workers Day and to appreciate the formidable efforts of workers to nation building.

Mr. Olabode in a special statement to celebrate the 2026 Workers Day, which copy was obtained by newsmen, described Nigerian workers as the giant pillar which untiring support has continued to build Nigeria progressively for 66 years and still counting.

He noted that a nation without a formidable workforce is doomed, stressing that Nigeria is blessed with a unique workforce which believe in a collaborative effort and which has been helping the nation to grow in leaps and bounds.

Olabode also thanked the Nigerian workers under the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC umbrella for believing in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu led All Progressives Congress, saluting the cohesion between Labour and Government. He noted that this is the first time a government will run a first term of almost four years now without any withdrawal of services by the labour union, appreciating the understanding of the nation’s Labour leadership and their belief in negotiable deliberations, consultation and cohesion rather than embarking on withdrawal of services and strike actions which do often cripple the nation’s economy. He added that an understanding Labour and a listening government end up ensuring the stability of a progressive nation.

The Lagos based big time real estate business tycoon however called on Government to consider areas of challenge among Nigerian workers and seek improvement as this will consolidate on the already existing mutual labour/government relationship in Nigeria.

He tasked Nigerian workers in the area of commitments and steadfastness to duty while praying that as the nation progresses, relying on the smooth and symbiotic relationship between government and labour there shall not be cracks that will affect this mutual understanding.

Olabode appreciates specially State Governors who have activated the new minimum wage template for their workers , while calling on those who have yet to follow suit to do so without wasting time, adding that when the workers are duly taken care of , fifth columnists won’t have the opportunity to show the seed of labour discord among them.

He said the recently increased sundry allowances by Federal Government is an indication of greater things to come for Nigerian workers, charging them in their respective formations to continue to cooperate with government for the greater good of Nigeria.
