A quiet morning at a company in Hotoro turned tragic when a police inspector, on duty to protect, was killed by his own service weapon. The officer, Inspector Aminu Ibrahim, entered a restroom on the premises, his AK-47 rifle slung around his neck and ready for action. In a terrible accident, the weapon fired while he was inside.

Early reports suggest the inspector was squatting when the gun went off. The bullet struck him in the stomach. His rifle, marked GT 4177, was later found with its safety off, in a position to be fired. An inspection revealed one bullet was missing from the full magazine he had been given.

Colleagues rushed the severely wounded inspector to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. Despite their efforts, a doctor confirmed he did not survive. His body has been placed in the hospital’s mortuary as authorities wait for a medical examination to determine the exact cause of death.

This incident casts a light on the hidden dangers police officers can face even during routine moments. The investigation continues into how a simple, everyday act resulted in such a fatal outcome, leaving a family and a police division in mourning.
