Olabode Omoyele to Nigerian Children : with you, future is bright

A strong word of encouragement has gone out to Nigerian children from a prominent All Progressives Congress, APC stakeholder, Mr. Olabode Omoyele on the occasion of the celebration of Children’s Day. May 27th is set aside to celebrate children in Nigeria and across the world by United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO).

Mr. Olabode in his words of felicitations to ‘the Nigerian Child’ noted that the future belongs to the children, congratulating them on the auspicious occasion.

He noted that the place of children in the society is a sensitive one and no couple feels fulfilled if the house is not filled with the warmth of children, stressing that in the social bond, in the family circle and in the society at large, the future becomes sustainable because of the presence of children who grow up to become adults and leaders of tomorrow.

“As we celebrate the children today, we look at the glow and sparkle in their eyes and feel comfortable that we have stars of tomorrow who will carry on the responsibility of leadership.

” As adults therefore, as parents and as leaders, the happy burden of ensuring they have the future of their dreams fall on our shoulder and we must ensure we do not fail them. The onus is on all parents to give these children good parenting so that we do not fail ourselves and our society by loosing our guard as parents, ” Olabode charged.

He called on parents to create more time for their children and court their sincere friendship so that the children can open up to them about their dreams , aspirations and challenges.

“We have found ourselves now in a society where family tradition and good upbringing are in serious contests with the post modernist temper dressed up in the garb of the Genzy world and a whole lot of refined traditions are gradually ebbing away. This challenge is a serious one that requires that parents wake up to their responsibilities lest the society snatches tutelage and offers these young ones defective learning that begets a more dysfunctional society,” Olabode stressed.

He called on parents to inculcate in their children the good manners of greetings, which is symbolic of the ‘Omoluabi’ ethos, noting that in Yoruba land , it is a given that good mannerism is learnt at home and showcased in the public.

Olabode also called on parents to always consider the fate of the children and to always make them to be of high point consideration, stressing that marital squabbles have affected children’s growth so much that a huge population of children are growing under dysfunctional home structure where couples having separated expose the children to parental and emotional challenges.

” In this aspect, a lot need to be done. As much as there could be marital friction, giving the children parental support because of their future should be enough reason for couples to simmer down on marital animosity because if our children do not learn well at home, the society won’t be a better teacher of ethos either,” Olabode Omoyele insisted.

He appreciated sub national governments across Nigeria that have effected the child right acts, noting that there should be awareness for these acts so that abuse can be nipped in the bud.
