Ondo govt to Onimariwo, “Stop selling government land”

The Ondo State Government has warned the Onimariwo of Mariwo Community in Ifedore local govement area of the state, Oba Julius Adegoke to stop selling already acquired government land in his community.

Government has observed that some part of the 256 hectares of land it acquired in 1964, during the western region government for farm settlement are being allegedly sold by Oba Adegoke.

The Onimariwo was cautioned at a meeting organised by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi on Tuesday (April 17, 2018) at the Governor’s office in Akure, the state capital, which also had in attendance the Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Gboyega Adefarati, Commissioner for Land and Housing, Mr. Donald Ojogo, Alara of Ilara-Mokin, Oba Abiodun Adefehinti and Ekiri of Ero, Oba Julius Gbenga Gbadesogun.

A statement issued and signed by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary, office of the Deputy Governor, Agboola, who is the chairman of the state Boundary Commission reminded Onimariwo that two hectares of the 256 hectares were given to the community for farming in 1974.

The Deputy Governor said it was saddened that the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, who visited the farm settlement on March 16, 2018 discovered some existing building structures on the government land.

He warned the monarch to desist from selling government land saying the government has not derailed from the purpose the land was acquired for.

Agboola also warned those who are illegally selling or using government land to desist or face the wrath of law.
