Ondo State Government expresses readiness to revive Oluwa Glass.

The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has indicated the willingness of his administration to bring back to life the now moribund Oluwa Glass Company in Ondo South Senatorial District.

Gov. Akeredolu while receiving the management of Horn Glass Industry from Germany in his office, at the State House , Alagbaka, noted that it was regrettable that importation of Glass into the country had continued over the years while a huge deposit of the required raw material for glass production is in Ondo State. ” It will interest you to know that when Oluwa Glass was operating , it did supply the then Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited glasses for windscreens and mirrors and the importation of the commodity has affected the local production of Glass in Nigeria,” Gov. Akeredolu noted.
The Ondo State Chief Executive noted with enthusiasm that the state is ready to establish a mutual working relationship with Horn Glass Industry, Germany on the ideal concept of resuscitating Oluwa Glass Company, Okitipupa, particularly as the Company was actively involved in the establishment of Oluwa Glass over thirty years ago.
Stephen Meindi, Chief Executive Officer, Horn Glass Industry appreciated the promise of the Governor and asserted the resolve of his company to partner with the governnment in the area of establishing a modern glass factory , stressing that Oluwa Glass factory is an industrial template that can be reworked and resuscitated.
