Litigation appears to be trailing the selection and enthronement of Oba Lawal Gbolahan as the Oniru of Iru Kingdom in Victoria Island , Lagos State.

An aggrieved party, a bonafide of the Abisogun ruling House and a crown Prince of Iru Kingdom, Prince Hakeem Oriyomi Ajasa has kicked against the process that propped up Oba Gbolahan Lawal as the new Oniru, noting that the enthroned Oniru didn’t at anytime partake in the selection, nomination and appointment exercise coordinated by the Abisogun ruling House.

In a statement made available to the media, while tracing the Genesis of how he was substituted by another Prince of Iru whose name did not come up in the nomination exercise, Prince Oriyomi Ajasa said Asiwaju Bola Tinubu peddled his strong influence which was weighed against his person as the Oniru elect. He added that giant business consideration which involves some business moguls as regards the new Eko Atlantic City was the reason why Chief Bola Tinubu kicked against his emergence, noting that he was reckoned to be a man who will not be pliable to their whims and caprices.

Prince Hakeem Oriyomi Ajasa pointed out that a popular Media House in Lagos, Television Continental, TVC, had confirmed by airing the news on the TV station on the 8th December , 2019 that he had been picked as the Oniru elect , relying on the September 14th , 1993 custom and traditions of Iru Kingdom and Lagos State Government Chieftaincy acts 1999, as amended.

Ajasa affirmed that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in a conciliatory meeting called hinted that his candidacy was not popular among some influential business circle who have prominent business interest across Iru Land.

While indicating that he has instructed his counsel to file notice seeking redress of the anomaly observed in the selection and appointment of the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Prince Ajasa said his lawyer, Agboola Ishola will be seeking 13 prayers and reliefs in the Lagos High Court as he vowed that he will not allow influential forces outside the Abisogun ruling House to hijack a selection process that was deemed free and fair held under an ambience that was devoid of suspicion and rancor.

” I am the Oniru elect but I was not the preferred choice of Bola Tinubu,” the Iru Prince, Hakeem Ajasa stressed. Continuing, he added, ” we have raised a litigation letter dated 27th October on the basis of the Possible Amicable Resolution Compliance with the Order 5 rule 1, sub rule 2- Rule E Lagos State High Court ( Civil Procedure rules 2019) in the case of preaction protocol in the proposed matter of Prince Hakeem Ajasa , the Oniru elect,” Ajasa affirmed.
