A popular brand of instant noodles has been declared unsafe and ordered off shelves across Nigeria. The national food safety agency, NAFDAC, is recalling Indomie’s ‘Vegetable Flavour’ noodles nationwide.
The urgent recall follows a safety alert from food authorities in France. Tests revealed the product contains milk and egg ingredients not listed on its packaging.
These undeclared components pose a serious risk to consumers with allergies to milk or eggs. The agency warned the public against eating the affected noodles.
In an official public alert issued Friday, NAFDAC directed a full “mop-up” of the product from stores. The goal is to remove all packs from the market immediately.
The specific product is the Indomie Instant Noodles ‘Special Chicken Flavour’ (Vegetable). Authorities are focusing on this single variety linked to the recall.
NAFDAC advises consumers who have bought the product not to eat it. They also urge people with allergies to be cautious and check packaging carefully.
