Rivers Govt lifts ban on curfew.

Governor Nyesome Wike of Rivers State has announced the lifting of ban on the temporary curfew imposed on the state by the Rivers State government.
Governor Wike in a state wide broadcast monitored by thepolity.net on Tuesday, 6th July , said due to the considerable level of peace observed in Rivers State and the adjoining States, the government has deemed it fit to lift the ban on free and unfettered movement, which he said were imposed on the state to curtail the spread of security threat to Rivers State.
He noted that the curfew was imposed on the 28th April when it was obvious that criminal elements have started to infiltrate Rivers State with the sole aim of constituting threat to the peaceful mutual existence of the good people of Rivers State.
Wike said as a State Chief Executive, his number one responsibility which he had sworn an oath to keep to the letter is to protect the lives and property of every one who is either from Rivers State as an indigiene or people living and doing business in Rivers State. The Governor noted that his second core responsibility is to prevent his state from the evil fang of external insurrection and anytime he suspects such, the most reasonable thing to do is to ensure by all means that the good people of Rivers State are well protected.
While thanking the people of Rivers State for their understanding while the season of state imposed curfew lasted, Nyesome Wike said it behoves every government that values the bonds and demands of the social contract to ensure the lives of the members of the public are not trifled with because without the people there will be no government.
Governor Wike charged the people of Rivers State to continue to go about their normal businesses and not to hesitate to report any strange face or any individual with a shady or untoward disposition in their vicinity.
