Senator Faduyile pays on- spot evaluation visit to flooded areas in Okitipupa

Ondo South Senator, Senator Prof.Dayo Faduyile, OON has assured his constituents in Okitipupa and other areas in the district who were affected by the recent flood of his support, noting that he identified with them over the unfortunate development.

Senator Faduyile visited areas in Okitipupa such as Aja Akineyin/Ijokodo off Cele bus stop along Ikoya Road, Sedara Street, Off Omowa area and Lagos garage.

Other places visited were the Yeewa area along The General Hospital Road, Agbala Iyantan, and Agbala Lijofi where the damage caused by the flooding was inspected with Senator Faduyile giving the assurance that the challenge caused by the flood will receive the attention of the Senate at Plenary when the upper chamber resumes from its recess in September.

While addressing residents of Aja Akineyin/Ijokodo early Sunday Morning, Senator Faduyile noted that he has reached out to the chairman of Okitipupa Local Govt ,Hon.Andrew Ogunsakin for consultation and he has been briefed that the State Emergency Management Authority (SEMA) will extend relief items to the residents of the affected area, adding that he will collaborate with the State Emergency Management Authority in offering reliefs to the flood victims. “I have come to identify with you , to sympathize with you and to let you know that you are not in this alone.I will collaborate with the State Emergency Management Authority to provide necessary relief materials,” Senator Faduyile indicated.

The Ikale Biripo legend, Chief Omotola Emaye, whose resident at Aja was badly flooded thanked Senator Faduyile for the visit. “I appreciate you for coming round to see for yourself the effect of the flood in our area. We had to run away from our houses when severe water turned us victims in our comfort zone.We will appreciate your assistance Distinguished Senator,”Chief Omotola pleaded.

At Sedara Street, another worst hit settlement, residents of the area came out en mass to welcome Senator Faduyile for the thoughtful visit. Mr.Wole Omosule who spoke on behalf of the residents said the residents are at their wits end over the flooding challenge, pleading with govt to come to their rescue.The School Administrator thanked Senator Faduyile for his assurance to collaborate with the State Emergency Management Authority on the resolve to provide relief materials.

 

Giving further assurance, Senator Faduyile said he will consider road construction in the area as part of the items of his 2027 constituency projects, stressing that good road network and proper channelization will reduce the threat of flooding.

Sectretary Okitipupa Local Govt (SLG), Mr.Femi Oladokun, who took Senator Faduyile round the areas touched by the flood incident assured the people of Senator Faduyile’s commitment to their welfare, while appreciating the Senator’s visit on behalf of the Chairman, Hon.Andrew Ogunsakin.
