Dr. Wahab Adegbenro , the Ondo State Commissioner for Health who died on Thursday due to complications arising from COVID-19 has been buried.
Prior to his demise, he was alongside being the state Commissioner for health, Chairman of the state task force on COVID -19.
His burial according to Islamic rights took place on Friday at his Ilara Mokin country home. While his burial attracted dignitaries , the social distancing safety protocol was maintained as mourners stood far apart from one another. Well-wishers wore mournful looks as his interment drew tears from members of the public in attendance.
In his condolences, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu described Late Dr. Adegbenro as a trusted companion and a professional physician who was committed to the Hippocratic oath of his medical profession till the end.
Meanwhile to avoid a vacuum in the function of ensuring the prevention of the spread of Corona virus in Ondo State, the state government has approved the appointment of Dr. Jibayo Adeleye, Special Adviser on health, to take over the supervision of the ministry of health , effective immediately. Dr. Jibayo, a two time member, Lagos State House of Assembly has been serving in the cabinet of Gov Akeredolu as Special Adviser since the inception of this administration.
