The industrial and manufacturing giant , We Wood Limited , Omotosho has reached out to the host communities of Omotosho/ Obatedo, Oke Ifara and Akinfosile communities in its bid to contribute positively and impact on the lives of the host community.

The major project completed which was inaugurated on Thursday, the 19th May 2022 at Omotosho by WeWood Limited was the commissioning of the Solar lights in the community.

Prior to the sitting of the massive solar lightening project, the entrance to Omotoso town at night was always overwhelmed by palpable darkness , and impelled by the Community Social Responsibility ( CRS) passion of the Chinese company, they set out to light up the long stretch of road at the major Omotosho Broad Street.

 

At the inauguration of the Solar light project on Thursday , the 19th May, 2022, the assistant Chairman of We Wood, Mr Kelvin Chu, in his address expressed his most profound appreciation to the beneficiary and host community, Omotosho for being a community that like and support good things. He said, ” a little over six and half years ago, shortly after the commencing of operations and flag off of our 10, 000 Hectares G- Melina Plantation by His Excellency, the Governor, we continued our audacious yet structured expansion to meet the ever growing deman d for our products in Nigeria with regional exports also in focus.

” We had a vision to support the government infrastructure agenda by ensuring we use locally available raw materials for all our productions , ” Mr. Chu said.

While thanking all the dignitaries and community stakeholders who graced the commissioning ,Mr Chu  the assistant chairman, said business can only thrive if the environment is enabling , stressing that Wewood’s community support policies are geared towards giving back to the host communities projects that will impact the lives of the residents positively.

 

Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Council, Hon. Igbekele Akinrinwa in his address thanked the management of WeWood for their thoughtful and supportive gesture in the area of Community Social Responsibility for the people of Omotosho. ” We are not unmindful of the assistant Chairman , Mr Chu during the Endsars protest when public facilities in Okitipupa were burnt by hoodlums. We reached out to him and he promptly came to our support. So being here today to commission the solar light project to me is a thing of joy. I am personally delighted because God has blessed Okitipupa Local Government with Wewood , an industrial giant which is doing well in our land and which is generous enough to think of providing the solar light project, ” Hon. Akinrinwa said.

He added that with the solar light at Omotosho , criminal activities will be reduced at night.

The Oloja Omotosho , His Highness , Agbaraolorun Igbasan while delivering his address before the dignitaries went for the commissioning, noted that WeWood takes first position in positively impacting its host community. Hear him, ” before WeWood came to give us these array of illuminating solar light poles that stretched through the length of Omotosho , the company had sunk boreholes both here and for our neighbouring communities ; WeWood gave us huge palliatives during the Coronavirus period , the company has provided
massive units of students chairs and lockers to the students of Omotosho Community Grammar School .

 

” I can go on and on and I can say it with pride that WeWood has improved our lives in Omotosho Community. My prayer is that God will bless Mr. Chu and all his staff, ” Oloja Omotosho added.

The cutting of the tape to mark the commissioning of the Solar light project was done on behalf of Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu by the Executive Chairman of Okitipupa Local Govt, Hon Akinrinwa Igbekele. He prayed that the enablement to do more for the host community , God will grant WeWood. Hon Akinrinwa equally pleaded with the youths of Omotosho to cooperate with the company and ensure that acts that can affect the warm relationship between the company and the community is done away with.

In an exclusive chat with the Community Liason Officer of Wewood Limited, who also doubles as the Public Relations Officer of the Company, Mr Adewale Omolayo, he said WeWood is committed to quality Community Social Responsibility efforts , noting that the company is not the type that makes gains at the expense of the host communities. He said the solar project is not the only project WeWood has executed for the host community, stressing that the solar project came up in the bid of the company to help provide security for the people at night.

Omolayo who is also an Osooro indigene said the patronage of Wewood is not just limited to the host community as the company had supported the Ondo State Government by donating face masks and Ethanol for Hand Sanitisers when Covid 19 ravaged the globe.

While promising further gestures of Community Social Responsibility for the host communities, the WeWood Public Relations Officer appealed to the community heads, the chiefs , the Olojas and the youth to sustain the mutual relationship between them and WeWood.
