Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved a major financial package for staff at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital. The payment includes a 13th-month salary bonus and the clearing of owed salary arrears.

The approval is aimed at boosting morale and resolving longstanding financial grievances at the critical health institution. The hospital’s staff have previously raised concerns over delayed payments.

This move directly injects funds into the state’s healthcare workforce during a period of economic strain. It is seen as an effort to stabilize essential medical services.

The Governor’s decision addresses both reward and historical debt. The bonus serves as an annual incentive, while the arrears settle past obligations.

The administration highlighted its commitment to worker welfare and the health sector. Similar payments have been made to state civil servants in recent years.

The development is expected to ease tensions at the teaching hospital. Observers note it may set a precedent for handling disputes with other government agencies.
