The Nigeria Police Force has officially confirmed the abduction of over 160 Christians in Kaduna State, reversing an earlier public denial by the state’s own police commissioner. The kidnapping took place on Sunday in the remote Kurmin Wali community of Kajuru Local Government Area.

This confirmation ends a period of public confusion. Initially, after the state’s security council met, local individuals disputed the police reports, leading the Kaduna Police Commissioner to cast doubt on the incident. The Force now states his comments were meant to prevent panic while investigations continued.

Subsequent checks with police units and intelligence sources have now definitively proven the attack happened. The reversal highlights the challenges authorities face in verifying information in crisis situations.

In response, the Inspector-General of Police has ordered a full security deployment to the area. This includes tactical teams and coordinated search-and-rescue operations with other agencies aimed at locating the victims.

The police are urging the public and media to avoid speculation and rely only on official updates. They warn that unconfirmed reports could risk the ongoing rescue missions and increase fear.

The Force has promised further updates as the operation continues, reaffirming its commitment to securing the victims’ safe return and stabilizing the affected community.
