Faduyile clinches Senate seat with 68,474 votes

A new Senator-Elect has emerged for Ondo South Senatorial District.
The district’s Senate seat was declared vacant following the resignation of its Senator, Amb.Jimoh Ibrahim who has gone to become a UN Diplomat. The vacant Senate seat was filled up through a by-election on Saturday,June 20.
Declaring the final result of the election at the Collation venue, Stella Maris College,Okitipupa, early Sunday morning, the Senatorial election Returning Officer,Prof.Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, Vice chancellor, Federal University,Lokoja said total number of registered voters in the district are 672,302 and out of this number, 70,811 were the total number of accredited voters. While total valid votes stood at 70,168, total rejected votes were 602.
According to Prof.Ibileye, APC had total of 68,474 votes, APM-1,411 votes, APP,213 votes and BP 70 votes.
“I, Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibileye declare Francis Adedayo Faduyile of APC as winner of the by-election and he is hereby returned as Senator-elect,” Prof.Ibileye announced.
Speaking with thepolity.net, Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC,Dr Mutiu Agboke described the process as a success and a reflection of the competence and preparedness of INEC for 2027 General election. He noted that for naysayers and critics of the Electoral body, the Ondo South by-election has confirmed the fact that INEC doesn’t cook results and has no predetermined inclination about the process. “INEC is a dispassionate electoral body and doesn’t interfere with the voting process. People who have such mindset have at least seen how the whole process has gone in Ondo South from the beginning to the conclusion of the process here.
” Our commitment to the success of the electoral process is topnotch and this is what we have showcased with the hitch free outcome of the Ondo South by-election,” Agboke stated.
The Vice -Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja, who doubled as the Returning Officer, Prof.Gbenga Ibileye, while fielding questions from thepolity.net said the election that held in Ondo South was well coordinated,adding that even in the difficult coastal terrains, the staff got the election management right and it was without any hitch.
The Senator-elect, Prof.Dayo Faduyile,OON, in his brief remark while addressing newsmen noted that the election is a reflection of the will of the good people of Ondo South. “Well, we are grateful to God as the will of the people has reflected in the poll. My appreciation specially goes to Gov.Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the entire APC structure.
“This victory is for all of us in Ondo South and like we assured during the campaign, we shall hit the ground running and work assiduously towards the greater good of Ondo South Senatorial District,” the Senator-elect, Prof. Dayo Faduyile maintained.
