Trigger happy cop shoots Sowore at Unity Fountain.

– Steve Ovirih.

Sahara Reporter Publisher and human rights crusader, Mr. Omoyele Sowore has been shot at by a female police cop in Abuja earlier today.

Reports gathered indicated that Sowore and other good government advocates had gathered at Unity Fountain premises this morning with the hope of using the venue for a peaceful protest but police personnel had cordoned the place off.

A human rights activist who announced the shooting spree from which Omoyele Sowore had been hit and rushed to hospital, Inichebe Effiong said Sowore among others were engaging the police men in talks when a shot rang out from the riffle of a police woman and hit Sowore on his stomach.

It was gathered that Sowore was immediately rushed to the hospital in an emergency ambulance.

A video of the altercation between Sowore and the police men is already going viral on the social media.

In his reaction to the unfortunate development, Ebun Adegboruwa ( SAN) has warned that Yele Sowore must not die and nothing untoward should happen to him, noting that it was least expected that there will be such a blatant abuse on human rights in a democracy.

The Lagos Lawyer and human rights crusader noted that President Buhari is not a stranger to peaceful protest and he had joined others to protest against bad governance in Nigeria, therefore it stands logic on its head that a democratic dispensation that has President Buhari as its arrowhead will allow such a flagrant abuse of human rights such as using live bullets to disperse peaceful protesters.
