Governor Chukwuma Soludo has presented a N757 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the Anambra State House of Assembly. The plan outlines the state’s financial priorities, focusing heavily on building public infrastructure and improving community safety.
A large part of the budget, dubbed the “Budget of Prosperity,” is dedicated to capital projects. These are long-term investments in areas like road construction, water supply, and public buildings. This spending is meant to stimulate the state’s economy and create jobs for residents.
The government has also prioritized security as a key area of investment. Funds have been allocated to improve safety and law enforcement across communities. This move aims to create a more peaceful environment, which is seen as crucial for attracting new businesses and investors to Anambra.
Other important sectors like education and healthcare will also receive significant funding. The goal is to improve public services in schools and hospitals, directly impacting the well-being of citizens.
To fund this budget, the state will rely on a mix of sources. These include federal allocations, internally generated revenue from state taxes, and potential loans. The success of the budget depends on the government’s ability to meet its revenue targets.
The Anambra State House of Assembly has now received the proposal. Lawmakers will scrutinize the document, hold debates, and may suggest amendments before giving it final approval and passing it into law.
