Addressing the theme of
the event- The Lord’s Foundation stands forever- Gen.Bajowa said the theme is very apt, timely and relevant to the situation in Nigeria because it is coming at a time the country is fast drifting away from the foundation that has sustained the country since its almagamation in 1914. ” I am personally intrigued by the theme because it addresses the consistent erosion of the foundation of mutual love, peace and tolerance upon which our country was built.
“There is no doubt that our beloved country is now in dire need of revival and reawakening in all facets of life.”
Gen. Bajowa, the Chairman of Awawa 94.1 FM, who was represented at the event by Chief Oluwole Akinbo, The General Manager Awawa Radio, Ayeka, noted that ” it is worrisome that religion is now being actively employed as a tool in partisan politics, with its attendant insults, abuses , blackmail, hate and propaganda.
” I hope henceforth that the church across our nation and across the continent of Africa generally will have a rethink on their involvement and investment in partisan politics, ” the Ojagbulegun from the source added.
The retired Army top brass said this development must be discouraged as it constitutes threat to peace, progress, unity and National cohesion.
“These attributes of partisan politics cannot conveniently co exist with the divine spiritual calling of the church, without the church being polluted and the scripture being compromised .
” By this , I mean that the church should focus squarely on its divine assignment and leave politics for the politicians ; moreso, bearing in mind that the church is a congregation of people of different political leanings,” Jagunmolu stressed.
He said the church ought not to be partisan at all under whatever circumstances.
Gen Bajowa at the event made a donation of 250,000 Naira to support the church fund raising while charging other guests to donate for the church project as he noted that the Lord’s foundation stands forever.
