By-election:Prof. Faduyile clinches Ondo South APC Ticket, salutes all stakeholders for support

Prof.Dayo Faduyile,OON, has been announced as the winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC Primary for Ondo South ahead of the June 20th by-election.

The Party’s primary held across the 66 wards of Ondo South Senatorial District on Sunday, 24th May, 2026.

Announcing the final results at the collation venue, Stella Maris College, Okitipupa, the Senatorial Returning Officer, Hon. Gbenga Osedele noted that Total registered voters across the wards are 63,404. He said of the total votes cast of 22,818, Prof. Faduyile garnered 16,312 votes to emerge victorious in the keenly contested Ondo South APC Shadow poll.

In his acceptance speech after his unveiling as the APC Candidate for The Ondo South by-election, Prof. Faduyile appreciated the efforts of everyone who has made his emergence possible. “Today as we all stand on the threshold of history once again in Ondo South Senatorial District as a progressive team of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, we have set the record straight that with a collaborative effort, we can bond together to move this our cherished district to a greater height.

“I am more than delighted to state that the support I have received in this humble bid to participate in the Ondo South Senatorial District by -election has been overwhelming,” Faduyile stated.

Prof.Faduyile expressed his gratitude to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for creating an enabling environment for the growth of democracy in the State. “My special gratitude goes to The Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, whose leadership and support for my humble stride have been salutary.

“Our amiable Governor has provided an enabling environment for a participatory process that has consolidated greatly the gains of democracy which is hinged on the collective input of card carrying party members as seen during the seamless process of the party’s primary,” Prof. Faduyile enthused. ” I cannot thank Governor Aiyedatiwa enough for the level playing field provided for the APC Primary.”

He also appreciated the formidable foundation already laid by the immediate past Senator of Ondo South, who has gone to become Head of Nigerian Mission and Ambassador of the country to The United Nations. “It is an obvious truth that the immediate past Senator representing Ondo South in the 10th Senate, Amb. (Sen.) Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, laid a formidable foundation and has given unquantifiable quality leadership. I must say with all sense of commitment that I feel more humbled as the candidate of our great party to continue with the commendable strides of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim in the 10th Senate.

” I thank Amb. Jimoh Ibrahim specially for the trust he reposed in my candidacy and the candid advice he has offered in the build up to the shadow election,” Faduyile maintained.

Prof. Faduyile called on his fellow contenders for the ticket to realize that the winner of the exercise is the process which consolidates democracy, noting that participatory democracy provides a representative at every given election. “At every bout of election that holds successfully, the winner is how the process consolidates democracy.

“No matter the number of us that showed interest and went to our party’s primary, the real victory is how we can sustain a collaborative effort towards ensuring our party’s victory beyond the primary election.

” I use this medium to reach out to all contenders of the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election primary and I state unequivocally that this victory is for our party, APC and as such it remains a collective victory,” Faduyile averred.

Faduyile said even while the by-election is June 20th, the utmost preparation of all party men and women calls to mind everyone’s resolve for the continuity of The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who goes to the general election in January 2027. “The best thing we can do for our democracy is to work assiduously for the continuity of President Bola Tinubu in office beyond 2027,” Prof. Faduyile added.

The Senatorial Returning Officer, Hon. Gbenga Osedele, who spoke with thepolity. net described the exercise as hitch free and a huge success, adding that series of Primaries have held across Ondo South in the past one week all of which have been successful. He noted that the level of awareness of card carrying members of APC in the district has tremendously improved with the massive turn out for the exercise.
